Marrying the forums, qa, etc would be a great start... currently you need 3 accounts for the Ubuntu site: Forums, Documentation (to edit the wiki), and here (QA/Brainstorm)
wjblack you should make that a new idea! OpenID logins for the Ubuntu Desktop, I very much like that!!!!!
Every Machine could be its own OpenID provider as well in the LAN via avahi. So I could easily allow user@othermachine to access my machine or my shares.
This should be integrated with Samba as well. And Samba should propose its CIFS implementation as an ISO standard, showing M$ where innovation comes from!
OpenID still needs to be refined. Users need to remember a subdomain to sign up. Its not much to remember but its a lot to type, especially for me, thevirtuesofxen.myopenid.com.
I believe the only difference between Drupal 5 and 6 with regards to OpenId, is that the OpenId module linked to above is included in the core distribution in Drupal 6, while you have to install it yourself in Drupal 5. I use it on Drupal 5 sites with no problems.
And please, don't just be a OpenID provider. I already have an OpenID account and registering another one to be able to log into Ubuntu sites defeats the purpose of the idea.
