Idea #7624: Add exercise-logging programs to repository

bug This entry was marked as not being an idea the 18 January 09. If this is a bug report, please use the Ubuntu bug tracker.
Written by sam the 25 Apr 08 at 20:46. Category: Others. Related project: Nothing/Others. Status: Not an idea
Rationale
Suggestion:
Add the following 3 applications to the software sources:
SportsTracker: http://www.saring.de/sportstracker/index.html
Pytrainer: http://pytrainer.e-oss.net/
Open Fitness: http://www.workoutware.com/

Article about them on linux.com here: http://www.linux.com/articles/60528

Why:
Right now none of them are available in Synaptic on Ubuntu 8.04. There are lots of devises from Polar(1), Garmin(2) and so on that _only_ comes with software for Windows. Perhaps some of them would work with wine, but it would be better if the user out there could get a nice native applications for Linux – with open source. And you don't need a device either, you could use them to track your sporting activities(human Linux users needs some training from time to time:-)

Please vote for this idea if you think Ubuntu should have them ready β€œin” Synaptic for new users, even though you don't want/need it yourself.

Thanks, and sorry for my English.

I think that idea it's fantastic! A better idea is to use "SportTracks" with mono (it's write in c#)

I try to use it under ubuntu without result but some people run that.

I am a big fan of pytrainer. It works well with my Garmin 305 in Hardy Heron.
