Idea #5755: P2P update and download sever program

Written by banbq the 26 Mar 08 at 09:36. Category: Internet & Networking. Related project: Nothing/Others. Status: New
Rationale
Updating for Chinese user is too slow.I think that happen in some other country too, because there no more sever online.
To solve the problem is to take another severs instead or to use other resource.
The perfect solution is to implement P2P tech.

I hope there is a program that can use the backgroud resource to supply downloading service for the Ubuntu or other users.
That can consult from E-mule but base on HTTP.The upgrade program and the other software which support Pear To Several Pear(P2SP) can download from the devoters(contributer...).
At last , this must be integraded in new version of Ubuntu and with a agreement to the users.

There's already an idea for a Bittorrent based APT to be integrated (which has already been coded).

And thats the best way of approaching it I feel. So +0

That being said, this isn't bad

There are some implementations indeed: http://sianka.free.fr/

Would be great to see this. Could make updates/installs a lot faster when there are more Ubuntu machines on the LAN/nearby.
