The current "Hardware Information" gnome device manager is very confusing for a non-techie who goes to that window with a specific question in mind like "How much RAM do I have?"

Ubuntu has the potential to design a very straightforward and intuitive hardware information window that displays all hardware information in human-readable terms, categorized as Ioneowais suggested. This would fit well with Ubuntu's "Linux for human beings" motto and emphasis on useability.

But was it really that bad that it had to be removed entirely from Hardy? I see no reason to do this without replacing it with something better.

sudo apt-get install gnome-device-manager solves the problem but.. why leave Hardy without Hardware Information!? Let's hope Intrepid is shipped with a great tool by default.

May be add to manager emulation option? Is not so bad when one need a virtual hdd, or dvd, or floppy and supporting all virtual formats, I think it this type of emulators must be integrated, because many people use it and it work beter if it is not third part software.

It would be nice to have something like "Device Manager" in Ubuntu, only better. :)
