Description
Notice how every time you position gnome-terminal in the center of the screen or where ever you like and the next time you open it, you see it at the top left corner of your screen.
It is just repetitive to keep positioning the window during each use.

I just wanted to post the same thing.
Not only the position has to be remembered, but also the screen size.
I resize a window to 25 x 80. Close it and reopen it just to see it in maximised mode.
Too annoying . Please fix it.

I think window size is generally to be saved by the application itself while closing. But most of the time, positionning is Metacity's job so I guess it could use some work in there.

It would be nice to have this option, but it should be off by default. I can just imagine some beginner moving a window to some inaccessible location, and then wondering why it's not working anymore.

Great minds think alike: http://brainstorm.ubuntu.com/idea/1442/
I'm just amazed that this doesn't piss off 99% of the Ubuntu population and isn't getting more votes - I'm constantly resizing and moving the same windows over and over again.
This should be idea #1!
P.S. I've done some digging on this problem and it's one of those issues where Gnome / Metacity are saying the application should take care of it, but the reality is that the majority do not.

No only windows opened in the last 14 days need to remember their position.

Thanks for this post! I'm using Ibex now and I have been bothered with this issue since I first started using Ubuntu. (Dapper)
