Auth against any of the OpenID/Yahoo/Google/Facebook/Twitter/Meemi... into your local login manager (when network is available otherwise use the classical mapped local login user).

An OpenID pam-module, sound good in my ears. There is a Google Summer of code for this. A poor-mans AD/LDAP.

If OpenID is secure enough for webapplications, why is it not secure for local PCs?

Turn over the security of a computer to a Web-based security model? I'm sure the guys at Black Hat and Defcon would LOVE it if that happened.

This would also necessitate having two different user accounts- one local and one OpenID just to deal with fallback if there is no net access. If you have to have a local account anyway- what's the point of using OpenID?

This would be interesting for schools and companys. Especially if they are using e.g. Google Apps.

Would be great to have.

Solution could be, that a small browser-window is opened before the login is made.
Because: OpenID means that only the ID-Provider sees your password.
