Rationale
When I get lots of apps on the dash bar, I have to scroll to find what I am looking for.

Solution #1: Grouping apps on the unity dash bar

I propose to have the ability to group similar apps together into a single group by right clicking and clicking on "Create new group" and name it and start adding apps to it like the iPhone app grouping and have the ability to rename, and have other options which the community can decide.

Solution #2: Drop-on Grouping

I suggest to use the same system which is currently used to reposition apps - click and drag out - but if the application is drag-and-dropped directly on top of another, it will automatically create an app group, which could then be automatically named based on the application category. (Utility, Games, Development, etc.)

When the group is selected, it could either open a lens-type interface or a sort of quick-select, like the jump-lists from right clicking supported apps.
