Idea #25833: Sync user's face with his/hers social network accounts

Written by DawnLight the 13 Sep 10 at 00:04. Category: Look and Feel. Related project: Nothing/Others. Status: New
Rationale
Users have snapshots of their faces in their social network accounts like Facebook and Google. They also have face snapshots in their Ubuntu user accounts (in their Ubuntu installations)

Perhaps the user would like that his face snapshot will be synchronised between their Google, Facebook, Launchpad, Ubuntu Forums, local Ubuntu user accounts, as well as, other social network accounts.

Solution #1: A sync system will be developed
Written by DawnLight the 13 Sep 10 at 00:04.
A face snapshot sync system will be developed.

It will connect to and be able to change the face snapshot in the user's accounts in Launchpad.net, Google, Facebook etc., and also in his local Ubuntu installation user account.

It will have a plugin architecture to allow development by the community of support for many sites/accounts where snapshots could be synchronized.

It will allow the user to choose which snapshot to synchronise to all accounts.

Later on in the development it will allow the user to select which snapshots to synchronise to which accounts.

Perhaps this could be related to the DesktopTeam/Specs/GdmFaceBrowser. That's at:

I am not into this social networking thingie, so I don't see any good use for this in Ubuntu. May prove useful for some, and useless for many.

The first and easiest plugin should be Gravatar.
I disagree with Johnsonas; seamless and optional integration with social networks puts Ubuntu above the rest.
