Idea #24318: Firefox should use Ubuntu's notification system

Written by L4Linux the 5 Apr 10 at 20:27. Related project: Firefox. Status: New
Rationale
Firefox should use Ubuntu's super-cool notification system, in cases like when a file has finished downloading. It would make Firefox integrate much better with Ubuntu and it would be a little step closer to Mr. Shuttleworth's goal of beating Apple's design.

Solution #2: Use FreeDesktop.org standard
Written by yman the 7 Apr 10 at 02:31.
Rather than using an add-on that targets a specific notification system, use one that complies with the fd.o standard so that it will work properly with all starndard-compliant notification systems including KNotify and notify-OSD.
