Idea #23363: Touchpad Speed, seperate from Anything else speed

Written by balloooza the 18 Jan 10 at 00:42. Related project: Gnome. Status: New
Rationale
The name is basicly it, My problem, I like my touchpad to have a much different setting than the mice I use, I plug in a mouse and it takes off, flying around the screen, and then I have to change the speed (it is very easy to do with gnome-do, but still a hassle)

Solution #4: set touchpad as always right-handed
Written by ki4jgt the 16 Feb 10 at 09:22.
I use a left handed mouse, so every time I unplug it, and use the touch pad to click anything, I always get a menu, b/c Ubuntu thinks my touchpad is a left handed touchpad

And why limit it to the touchpad?

i use two mouses, one trackball on the right and one regular mouse on the left.

Show a list with all pointing devices.

I second adding entries for all available pointing devices.

And in the same way controls for adjusting scroll wheel speed should be implemented.

can we add. as I don't know how to do this, disable the touch-pad when using another pointing device. And/Or a hot key just for those who are sick of bumping the touch-pad and having unfortunate things happen.

I would definitely agree with the suggestion of different settings per device.

As a laptop user use the touchpad when I don't have a surface for a mouse. Use a small bluetooth mouse when travelling. Use a bigger mouse when docked at my desk.

All three of these require slightly different settings to be comfortable to use.
