Idea #2031: allow to save LiveCD session on an USB key or on a file in hard drive

bug This idea is a duplicate of Idea #16: LiveUSB.
Written by mastro the 1 Mar 08 at 03:16. Category: Others. Related project: Nothing/Others. Status: New
Rationale
LiveCD are great because they let you try the system without touching the hard disk!
but they miss something..

if you allow the user to save session somewhere and load it at boot time you can:

1) you can install and try restricted driver from liveCD that meed to reboot... (example: try the nvidia/ati restricted driver before installing Ubuntu)
2) be able to install more program than what your ram can hold
3) as a consequence of points 1) and 2) you can truly try Ubuntu Linux without any restriction before installing it
4) completely portable installation on a liveCD + usb key/external hard drive
5) ... may be other useful think i can't think about at the moment ...

this is already possible with casper-rw but it's still not user friendly https://wiki.ubuntu.com/LiveCDPersistence

This is already possible:

It is called "casper-rw".

thanks.. this is really good (it seems) but it's not an easy task for newbie user..
i ask here to made it simplier to do all this:

example... graphical tool to save: just choose the drive you want to save from a list and the dimension you want to give it...

then an option in the LiveCD when booting that read: "use persistent drive" instead of having to manually add the option
