Note it says:
Michael Vogt has added support into synaptic.
I hope to see it included in Jaunty!
But since most newbies use Add/Remove programs it would be useful to include the screenshot support there as well.
Jaunty aims at merging the web and the desktop, it should include automatic downloads of screenshots from this site in the Add/Remove application, so that users can see what an application looks like before they decide whether to install it or not.
Yes but how many people know about appnr.com ?
Add/Remove programs is installed by default and it is often what users encounter when they first try to install a program.

If it's too heavy on resources (disk space + speed), then no.
Else, yes.
(It could be made optional to avoid speed problems. For space, I don't see how unless a screenshot database is also optional. Don't know exactly how apt-get update gets and stores its information.)
rabbid, or sponsor the debian project a little bit with bandwith. Anyway it should not be done the work twice keep it one project and dont do a "screenshots.ubunutu.com" :)
Great idea, but as others said, Ubuntu should mirror it not to steal Debians bandwidth.
And it should be an option somewhere, like you have with thumbnails in nautilus.
Rather than screenshots, add a URL to each description that takes the user to that applications website. This will save space but still make the additional information available.
To give that integrated feel... have a browser window open up attached to the add/remove dialog (with a button to zoom the site larger and the add/remove control smaller and vice versa)
OR, even better integrate it with APPNR.COM which is a great idea (thanks for the link)
