Idea #1511: Allow user to choose mouse button for resizing windows in metacity

Written by zdenek.zikan the 29 Feb 08 at 15:45. Category: Others. Related project: Nothing/Others. Status: New
Rationale
Right now, metacity uses Alt+Middle mouse to resize windows while each other WM I've tried so far uses Alt+Right mouse. It is minor improvement but for me it is really important issue because I use trackpoint at my laptop with 3 buttons - and the middle one I use for emulating mouse wheel, which is a great thing IMO.

If not changing the default behavior to what other WMs use, please put some option to settings.

(I don't know if it concerns also Compiz or not.)

This is in Metacity's tracker as http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=437910 .

I'd say keep the Middle-mouse thing, but if Emulate 3 buttons is turned on, switch it to Right button.

I think it's the X-servers duty to find all 8 (including 2 directions on the wheel) of my Mouses keys.
So if the X-server reports touchpad or less than 3 buttons then switch it to right.
