xubuntu "Default" screen resolution - show exact size
Written by RomanIvanov the 14 Dec 08 at 11:47. Implemented
I use Xubuntu 8.10. My laptop - Dell Vostro 1510.

Application -> Settings -> Settings Manager -> Display. Please look at picture.

Please add in exact size of resolution that is now for example like "Default (1280x800)", or just "1280x800". What is the reason and meaning to show me that such resolution is default and do not show me exact size? There is no way to see current resolution size.

If it is problem to change it. Please add label above list to show current resolution.

Uncheck "Save session for future logins" in Quit dialog by default
Written by RomanIvanov the 23 Dec 08 at 07:52. Not an idea
Goal: uncheck by default after installation of Xubunutu(and other ubuntu) checkbox "Save session for future logins" in Quit dialog.

There is checkbox "Save session for future logins" in Quit dialog that is checked by default after installation, newbies (my frineds, me, and some other people from forum) did not noticed this checkbox and forget to uncheck, as result they have few applications that starts each time and annoy - because they did not wanted them deliberately.
Forum: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?p=6419195

Workaround:
0. Install, close all application.
1. Applications -> Quit
2. In Quit dialog uncheck "Save session for future logins"

Written by RomanIvanov the 27 Dec 08 at 16:17. New
Xubuntu 8.10. Now each window have at top system area -
(Icon)(Stick) (Title) (Shade)(Minimize)(Maximize)(Close) buttons.

But in popup is available "Always on top" feature. Lets add it as button next to (Stick) to be easily pressed.
New:
(Icon)(Stick)(OnTop) (Title) (Shade)(Minimize)(Maximize)(Close) buttons.

This feature will be widely in use for chat windows, especially if you have wide screen.

Raise windows when they are a drag target
Written by RomanIvanov the 15 Feb 09 at 07:39. New
Now we have Drag&Drop functionality that is quite useful sometimes, but it is only half implemented. It necessary enhance Drop operation to allow make Drop more accurate - in precise target window area.

One of use cases:
1. Open Thunderbird, create new mail place it on the left side of screen.
2. Now you need to Drag&Drop pictures to Attachment, not in body of mail. Focus any application for browsing file system on the right side of screen.
3. Drag few files to Mail, without raising "New Mail" window you did not have ability to put it in attachment placeholder.

FYI, related bugs that almost dead for no reason:

Solution #1: Raise and focus target window for further dealing in it
Written by RomanIvanov the 15 Feb 09 at 07:39.
No reason to keep focus on source window - we got everything we need and go to target window for operating in it. Please pay attention to MS Windows implementation of such feature for more details.

Solution #2: deal with it like mac
Written by nloewen the 21 Feb 09 at 06:20.
A mac will focus any window you drag your copy over. It will also open a folder you hover over with a dragged file. Then close the folder when you hover somewhere else or when you drop the file.

Solution #3: deticated impimenters
Written by toki_the_collector the 22 Feb 09 at 15:30.
when things are implemented get a team together that understands and memorizes all the options. this team could go from prodject to prodject lending their expertise to groups that might not realize they have been left behind

Solution #4: Leave As-Is

Applications need to behave themselves, ubuntu isn't their mother or father.
