lets say VLC is playing a song in the backround and im choosing other song , insted of dragging them into the playlist Ubuntu should have an add this to VLC playlist button like in windows. it makes life easier for people.
When resizing a movie, it is almost impossible to maintain the correct aspect ratio by dragging the corner. Black bars are therefore generated. This is a waste of space and poor practice given the ability of the computer to prevent this.
When rewinding or fastforwarding a movie the only way to start play again at normal speed is to go to the Playback menu on the menubar which results in a dropdown window obscuring what I'm trying to see. I would like to be able to select Normal Play from the Toolbar. But if I press the combined Play/Pause button while a movie is rewinding/fastforwarding the movie pauses. If I press it again the movie plays but while still rewinding or fastforwarding. There needs to be an individual PLAY icon/button and an individual PAUSE icon/button. Then when rewinding/fastforwarding I can press PLAY and the movie will start playing at normal speed again.
Another solution might be to create a "Normal Speed" icon/button. But even if this is done, I'd still like a separate Pause and Play button for routine use. It helps keep the necessary number of buttons on the toolbar down to a minimum.
imagine we are in a folder with 20 music files and 5 jpg cover image. When you do ctrl+a to play all the, the "open with vlc player" isn't shown but when you delete those images it works.
What else can I say? It would be one less thing I would need Windows for! I have a few downloaded Amazon VOD movies on my Windows machine. (I am in the process of considering Ubuntu since Windows sucks and I can't afford a Mac.)

Hi!
It would be very nice and useful if Ubuntu developers can find a way to integrate VLC in the Gnome Panel ( Taskbar ) just like Windows Media Player in Windows Taskbar or Like iTunes in Windows also.
If I am not having internet connection and the only source of Ubuntu packages is a windows PC with internet, I will have to download the packages and dependencies manually to a pen drive and install it later in my PC.My idea is, if there is a reference link for details of any program packages and dependencies that we propose to download manually for installtion in the installed vertion of Ubuntu in Package manager Help menu -> home page / Discription of the package etc, it will be very useful.
Presently I found a link for the same but unluckily it has reference of only i386 versions of Ubuntu not amd64 etc. The address is http://labs.fajran.web.id/p/apt-web/.
A similar site for other versions may be maintained by Ubuntu.
A simple desktop gadget that shows available Online FM radio stations and allows with simple clicks to customize personal preferences to enable quick start listen to music a.s.o.
Advantage:
No need to search for Radio stations and set up configuration and any player can be used to play music. So it is SW player agnostic
Lately since the release of VLC 1.0 it puts an icon in top righ corner or in the notification are, where basic controls such as play, skip forward and backward, pause, etc. are accessible. With the new notification icons in Ubuntu 10.04 I think VLC can use some love.
When opening a movie, the normal behaviour is to open the window to fit the pixel size of the data stream. If the movie is low resolution the user will most likely resize it to a more useful window. Likewise if it is large it may perhaps need to be reduced.
The window size is key to the user experience, not the resolution. The resolution simply determines the quality of the image.
Constantly resizing player windows is a pain if working on or viewing a number of clips
