VLC process problem
Written by WolfiE the 20 Aug 08 at 18:57. Not an idea
I have noticed when using ubuntu (and windows for that matter), that vlc will sometimes fail when opening a file, or appear to, only when I close the program the process stays alive and plays me the audio, so I have to end or kill the process manually. Could this not be done automatically ?
This has only happened once or twice, and I'm not sure I could recreate it deliberately.

Play next movie in a folder
Written by dima.shmidt the 5 Jun 09 at 06:59. Not an idea
When I used a GOM player (http://www.gomlab.com),
when you click on movie - it makes automatic playlist of all video files in a folder that you watch current movie,
and when it finishes player start to play next until last file in a folder.

List of files is sorting by alphabet,
so it's very usefull when you watch TV series,
for ex. House M.D. - you don't need to make a playlist or if you forgot to do this - get up to computer and press "next" button.

Annoyed because I cant watch DVDs!
Written by Chad the 9 Jul 08 at 21:14. Not an idea
I spent countless hours scouring the net for some Video player software, because I primarily want to watch DVDs on it. I cant understand why I cant - I tried with several applications, got the same results - Perhaps I am trying to watch copyrighted DVDs on a Open Source system?

Anyways, I really wish that applications had told me that I could not watch DVD (for legal reasons), an now as a result, I cannot watch any DVDs that I want to watch.

That aside, how come Windows gets to watch copyrighted movies and Linux system dont? Is this for legal reasons, or what?

Someone reply, please.

The window size is more relevant to a user than the number of pixels
Written by geoff07 the 21 Dec 10 at 08:14. New
When opening a movie, the normal behaviour is to open the window to fit the pixel size of the data stream. If the movie is low resolution the user will most likely resize it to a more useful window. Likewise if it is large it may perhaps need to be reduced.

The window size is key to the user experience, not the resolution. The resolution simply determines the quality of the image.

Constantly resizing player windows is a pain if working on or viewing a number of clips

Solution #1: Open clips to a default window size rather than the pixel size
Written by geoff07 the 21 Dec 10 at 08:14.
On very first use, the player should open the clip to the pixel size. If that is then resized by the user, then all subsequent opens of that or other clips should default to the window size set by the user. Aspect ratios would be taken into account by altering the width of the window, keeping the height as set by the user. This way the window size would more closely match the user preference.

Support For Amazon Video on Demand Videos
Written by dcornibe the 5 May 09 at 18:11. New
What else can I say? It would be one less thing I would need Windows for! I have a few downloaded Amazon VOD movies on my Windows machine. (I am in the process of considering Ubuntu since Windows sucks and I can't afford a Mac.)

VLC Integration in Gnome Panel (Taskbar)!
Written by FreeEagle76 the 24 Aug 08 at 19:29. New
Hi!

It would be very nice and useful if Ubuntu developers can find a way to integrate VLC in the Gnome Panel ( Taskbar ) just like Windows Media Player in Windows Taskbar or Like iTunes in Windows also.

Packages and dependencies
Written by hariks0 the 19 Oct 08 at 16:13. New
If I am not having internet connection and the only source of Ubuntu packages is a windows PC with internet, I will have to download the packages and dependencies manually to a pen drive and install it later in my PC.My idea is, if there is a reference link for details of any program packages and dependencies that we propose to download manually for installtion in the installed vertion of Ubuntu in Package manager Help menu -> home page / Discription of the package etc, it will be very useful.

Presently I found a link for the same but unluckily it has reference of only i386 versions of Ubuntu not amd64 etc. The address is http://labs.fajran.web.id/p/apt-web/.

A similar site for other versions may be maintained by Ubuntu.
