New user often need some help at the begining, dvd not working because of css... other small problems. And assisting only per phone is sometimes difficult, because users don't know the vocabulary...
To access their machine, you have to setup a vnc server, and to configure their firewall on the router, which is differant from provider to provider...
Reverse VNC is the solution, but their is no reverse vnc program by default. It should be something easy and visible like "get help from other users"
And also a way so that the person that want to help, could also help from work (without having to change firewall rules).
Many services offer RDP file downloads for their RDP connections - especially common in university settings. Vinagre supports RDP, and supports opening VNC files, but not RDP files. If there is the expectation that RPD should be a \"basic system\" function (as indicated by including an RDP client in the baseline software package), it should be as simple to use as possible.

Ubuntu is supposed to be the easy ¨for your grandma¨ linux.
Users who need apps like that are intelligent enough to do a sudo apt-get install after installing ubuntu.
I don´t think they are needed as default applications.

For a long time, Ubuntu has shipped with easy-to-use remote desktop access based on the VNC protocol (via GNOME Vino). This protocol is very limited, slow, and outdated!
