Add "Open Movie Player" to optical disk icon in Unity
Written by quequotion the 23 Nov 12 at 08:43. New
In order to play a DVD, I must:

1. Right-click the dvd's icon in Unity
2. Left-Click "Open"
3. Wait for nautilus
4. Left-Click "Open in Movie Player" in nautilus.
5. Quickly close nautilus while waiting for totem.
6. Enjoy movie.

This process could be shortened by enabling "Autorun" however I find autorun even more inconvenient.

Solution #1: Put this in Unity to shorten the process.

New menu for DVDs and other optical video disks to include:

1. Right click on disk's icon
2. Left click on "Open Movie Player"
(3. Wait for totem)
(4. Enjoy movie.)

Only two steps of interaction, which I am happy to do in place of autorun. Other users could leave autorun enabled as default; but I think many users could make use of this.

Furthermore this would completely remove nautilus from the equation. It takes time to open, it's a file browser, the interface is a huge disraction, etc etc. Puting this into unity will improve the user experience because it is faster, simpler and more logical.

Show a window with some options when you enter a video cd/dvd on the computer.
1-View Movie
2-View DVD content
3-Not to do anything

Solution #1: Create a sounds variety for the system.

Create a variety of sounds for some events using Ubuntu:
-Error
-Exclamation
-New mail
-New software updates available
-Task end (for example end for a disk search or a move file operation)
They can be made by the look and feel Ubuntu community.
