I use Ubuntu one for two applications:
1)
I have two computers- a desktop and a laptop. I work on both throughout the day and found that it's great to be able to sync documents between the two. So I can work on my desktop, switch to my laptop and carry on where I left off.
2)
to backup all my files.
Unfortunately the way Ubuntu one is designed, you cannot do both natively without exposing yourself to a major security risk:
If someone steals my laptop (These things are serious targets), or if someone uses it, they have access to all my information because:
1) Once set up, Ubuntu one doesn't need a password in order to access the server.
2) that computer has access to everything thats stored online.

The Livescribe Smartpens are an awesome technology (http://www.livescribe.com) and are very very useful. However, there was no good way to use it from Linux/Ubuntu.
This integration and the potential partnership with Livescribe would be beneficial for both and would relieve the suffering Livescribe on Linux community very much.

Ubuntu One on Windows DOES NOT have an option to set proxy settings on Windows!
There are countless closed ideas that have attempted to brainstorm this idea of a proxy.
This is a specific idea of U1 ON WINDOWS.
I use my laptop through the wireless of a university, and also have a desktop.
Installed U1 on my work (Microsoft) desktop and it did not work.
Then installed Dropbox, it worked when some IT guy came and simply went to options on Dropbox and inserted the relevant proxy settings. Works brilliantly.
When installing U1 on Windows there is NO OPTION for proxy. After install it asks directly for log in details and returns a failed error relating to a proxy.
Thus I can't get past the log in phase, the only phase that works is install.

Ubuntu One Client in Ubuntu 11.10 can't handle proxy configuration via GUI or global proxy configuration. This problem can disturb Ubuntu users who connected to internet behind a proxy server. So, next Ubuntu should has a UOC which can accept proxy configuration via GUI of global proxy configuration.

I use Ubuntu One to sync files for several applications, including all my reference library (scientific papers and so on). Sometimes I just save something and I shut down my computer right after that, because I'm in a hurry and I don't wait for the synchronization to be finished. Then I turn on my laptop at home and I don't have the same documents I was working on previously. I think ubuntu one should be better integrated in the system and should account for these kinds on needs.
What I think is that there is no meaning in synchronization if you are not sure that everything is synchronized when you switch off.
BTW: why isn't there Ubuntu One among the related projects category?

I have an idea that it is less difficult to satisfy all your social networks like facebook twitter hyves simultaneously update and to ensure that more young people in particular ubuntu to ubuntu gets
The idea is a website where all your social networks like facebook twitter hyves etc in one place can be updated to take still photos without ever posting to another site to go
So you can just stay on this site instead of always another site to log in and you do not have to remember all passwords
and if users must log in with a ubuntu one user id and poeple can see the graet things of ubuntu one too like free 5gb of storage and ubuntu music so ubuntu one can make money with that and much users.

Ubuntu is offering cloud services called ubuntu one for syncing documents, contacts and calenders with your mobile phone. Additionally it offers streaming music to your mobile phone. I recently found out how easily the open standard SIP service can be used for voip services including video and conference calls. Empathy offers a plugin, however you have to find an SIP service provider. This requires googling and setting up an account on the internet. So this is no option for a complete novice who doesn't want to google the internet in order to find a solution. Furthermore, there need to be more people using this service in order to call them - like Skype.

For windows, sync-apps exist to sync calendar and contacts from andoid phones to a PC. Apple users are happy with their apple-only solution that works well i guess. Android users can rely on google for their syncing needs, but they pay for comfortable syncing with their personal data. This is not acceptable for me, and possibly others think alike.
I guess that this problem is found similar when working with other mobile operating systems! For me it was never possible to reliably sync my mobile phones with my linux boxes. perhaps bad luck; but still, it was never a problem for windows users. Perhaps the time has come where this can be solved.
