Terminal should be on panel or desktop on LiveCD
Written by Jojan the 27 Nov 08 at 17:07. New
I use my LiveCD when having some problem with a computer. I always need to use the terminal, so it would be nice if it was on the panel or desktop when I start.

Some problems requires the computer to reboot, so having the terminal more accessible would be nice.

The "Examples" folder is too large!
Written by you-buntu the 24 Mar 09 at 17:29. New
In the liveCD, there is a 400mb folder of useless videos and pdf files. If we were to eliminate that, we could add many more games, office programs, Internet applications, or just eyecandy.

Solution #3: Create screencast format to generating screencast
Written by Lachu the 8 Nov 09 at 22:07.
Simple usage:
We don't need movies on Ubuntu to introduce. We can either grab/stole cursor from user and navigate it.

Ok. We need hybrid format including images/movie for some part of screen and dynamically created information. Images will be helpful, if we need to display web page or some think.

It will be great to show real wallpaper on screencast and use real look of current session. Instead of use movie use the same compression method to store pictures and additionally pack information about pictures placement, widget and windows positions, widget and windows state, windows atom, etc. Additional we can ship information about windows class name and windows name for search it on real screen.

It will decrease size of video tutorials and make it better for humans/users(we don't seen workspace/desktop of other people, but our desktop).

We need also new application to play this tutorial.

Flash is a cornerstone of the web nowadays.
Written by Starks the 21 Feb 09 at 14:04. New
I was wondering if usb-creator 0.1.13 could include an option for installing Adobe Flash into the live usb environment.

Such a feature was present in the original Ubuntu-supported
implementation of live usb (https://launchpad.net/liveusb).

Test drive Ubuntu online
Written by halemartian the 16 Jan 09 at 04:35. New
We all know that Ubuntu can be run live from disk. So how about doing the same thing online. What I mean is have a link on the ubuntu website allowing anyone to connect to a ubuntu desktop via the browser and use it and see how great it is. I think many people wouldn't have a clue on how to boot from a cd.

Ctrl+Alt+Backspace...etc Safety. - Do Not disable though.
Written by yaknowwat the 9 Dec 08 at 07:38. New
Ctrl+Alt+Backspace instantly kills X there should be some sort of safety on this for newer linux users. Adding a X prompt to it -similar to a kernel prompt text based- saying holding this for 3 seconds will kill your session and what you were doing. Of course leaving a way to disable this for normal users would be highly welcome. Say by setting the time in a config if 0 safety is disabled otherwise it has a time set on it.

Otherwise provide in the LiveCD a presentation - An Icon on the desktop so people see it - and as a shared document an a installed system (attached by its own package for removal purpose if wanted) warnings of dangerous or confusing things to do to your system -commands and hotkeys- and what their use is.

Add "install latest release" to LiveCD
Written by Madsrh the 30 Jun 08 at 11:52. New
Why not add a "Install latest release" icon to the LiveCD desktop?

Use Case:
You have an older or out-dated Ubuntu CD and with it you can install the latest Ubuntu release. The option is only visible if the LiveCD is able to connect to the internet for downloading the files.

So don't have to burn a new CD with every release. The installation will not take longer than installing an out-dated version and updateing from there.
If a feature like this was included you would be able to boot you Gusty, Feisty (just an example) LiveCD and click the icon on the desktop "Install latest release" an enjoy the installation process on Hardy.

I hope my idea is thoroughly explained - if not, please ask!
//MadsRH

(I should perhaps mention that a USB installation tool is planed for 8.10)
