Contributor cheesehead on Ubuntu GNOME Remix

Use custom application stack
Written by soaringsky the 14 Jun 11 at 17:19. Implemented
If UGR is to be ubuntu's GNOME 3 distribution, maybe it should try to stick to GNOME's default applications, and thus install Epiphany by default instead of Firefox, etc. See http://www.gnome.org/applications/ for GNOME's list.
This is NOT part of Ubuntu, but the Ubuntu GNOME Remix (UGR)

Selected solution (#2): stick mostly with Ubuntu's stack
Written by soaringsky the 14 Jun 11 at 17:20.
UGR has been just sticking with the Ubuntu stuff because it's easier. Making lots of dependency changes can cause lots of unexpected issues, and it's a massive headache.

New name for UGR
Written by soaringsky the 28 May 11 at 06:22. Implemented
The Ubuntu GNOME Remix project is seeking to solidify our branding. We went to calling ourselves the Ubuntu GNOME Remix after Canonical did not allow us to use "Gubuntu". Since then, we have adopted UGR as our main name, and many logos and branding materials have been created.

However, many users have proposed names other than UGR. https://bugs.edge.launchpad.net/ugr-meta/+bug/755189
Please submit name ideas below, and we'll see how popular they are.

Name references within packages and software will likely stay as UGR for a long time, as we don't have time to migrate them.

Selected solution (#1): Keep UGR
Written by soaringsky the 28 May 11 at 06:22.
Keep UGR/ Ubuntu GNOME Remix as the name. Everyone knows the project as such, and changing away from that could be a bad thing for marketing and name recognition. Many logos and wallpapers have been created, and they would have to be re-done if another name is chosen.

Selected solution (#2): Pursue Gubuntu
Written by soaringsky the 28 May 11 at 06:28.
We can continue to lobby Canonical for permission to use the _buntu trademark. This may or may not end up working out. A few other groups have actually proposed Gubuntu after ugr was started, without knowing about us.

Selected solution (#3): Bridge Linux
Written by soaringsky the 28 May 11 at 06:34.
Bridge linux is a name that is popular among project developers. It is symbolic of the gap we bridge between Ubuntu and GNOME.

Selected solution (#5): Mundi Linux
Written by Almehdi the 28 May 11 at 16:28.
Mundi means universe in latin. It would go well with the current namings of the project.
