Hardware Configuration of Desktop / Laptop
Written by ashutinz the 6 Jan 09 at 04:28. New
I am new to Linux and have been using it since last 3-4 months now for my work. There should be a program to show the current devices that is installed. WHY? I have a AMD Duron 1.3 Ghz with 512 Ram / 40gig Hdd / DVDRW and 15" Monitor (Samsung 55v) but i cannot see such a config listing anywhere in Ubuntu. I feel that migrating users from Windows to Linux is a bit tricky but still its better.

Better application for services management
Written by frbastida the 25 Sep 08 at 09:53. New
Now we can manage services activating and deactivating or changing the priority in each runlevel. But the way you do this is confusing... Its dificult to see the order of the services are going to be launched. I had a problem with DBUS service that was activated AFTER Hal detection, and when GNOME came up i had a message of "HAL initialization error". The correct order was first DBUS and then HAL. But was dificult to see the order of start of the services at boot time. Another problem too is kwnow what is the correct sequence for some services

I think it would be useful have a more accurate services management to solve this kind of problems
