Ideas in development Here are the implemented Transmission ideas with no milestone set.

Files downloaded from Transmission should be movable (inodes!)
Written by nullmind the 5 Aug 09 at 06:44. Implemented
Downloading that rare torrent that you would like to see survive? Right now you've basically got two options:

1.) Keep everything in your download directory and enjoy the mess.

2.) Stop seeding your files and organize everything, and if you remember / do some more work you might be able to start seeding them again.

3.) Be a perfect human and always choose the right place to download the torrent.

These aren't horrible options, but can't we do better? If I download an audio torrent I don't select my ~/Music folder because as the file is downloading and incomplete Rhythmbox will be scanning corrupt files, which it actually does pretty well with, but I would prefer to keep the file in my download directory until it's complete.

Download Complete, but my ratio poor. I would like to seed back to at least 1.0, but I'd also like to hear the audio I just downloaded.

We've got these spiffy things called inodes (not related to Apple!) and this great thing called inotify to tell us whenever a file has been moved - plus I'm sure you folks and the developers have all kinds of great ideas.

Selected solution (#1): Use inotify and let users move files after or while they are downloading
Written by nullmind the 5 Aug 09 at 06:44.
Transmission can monitor the files that are being downloaded with inotify. This doesn't cause a significant drain on resources as we're only monitoring files that are downloading.

The user would be able to use nautilus or even a terminal to manipulate the location of the files, and transmission should be able to stay on top of it's game.

Selected solution (#2): Already a feature in Karmic
Written by Sloshy the 7 Aug 09 at 23:52.
I'm using a Transmission PPA from Launchpad which gives me the most recent stable version of Transmission, and I'm absolutely sure that this feature's implemented in the latest stable.

In the latest "Stable" Transmission build, right-click a torrent and select "Set Location". You can then change where the files are downloaded to, and optionally move your already downloaded files there.

I hope I helped. Somebody consider this "solved" or whatever once Karmic comes out.

Transmission
Written by Shady3D the 13 May 09 at 12:10. Implemented
i don't wanna start the fight about bit-torrent clients, guru bit-torrent users will use more advanced clients that Transmission, i personally use deluge.

so my suggestion here is to make Transmission have the least specifications of a bit-torrent application or even a general download application.

Problem is:
Queues Manager
Folder Management

note: Queues already implemented in Mac version

Selected solution (#2): Don't autorestart removed files
Written by phonixor the 15 May 09 at 12:31.
I always found it annoying that if you delete a file from your HD, transmissions starts downloading it all over again.

If there is no file, transmission should or ask to remove the .torrent, or put it on queue indefinitely, you should also be able to relink the torrent to the file if you moved it instead of removed it.

Show how much of each file in a torrent has been downloaded. Let the User select priority for individual files.

Transmission has no pause all/resume all button
Written by wleoncio the 25 Jan 09 at 00:05. Implemented
Currently (Transmission 1.34), in order to pause or resume every download one has at a moment, it is necessary to select each one of them from the download list and then hit the "pause" or the "resume" button.

Selected solution (#1): Add pause all/resume all button to the toolbar
Written by wleoncio the 25 Jan 09 at 00:05.
I know Transmission is supposed to be a light BitTorrent client (otherwise one should head towards Deluge or something), but I think this is a small implementation that will add to its feature list without hindering performance.

Moving torrent files in Nautilus dont update torrent location in transmission
Written by mrklister the 24 Jan 09 at 06:20. Implemented
Moving files, that are used by an torrent in Transmission, in Nautilus is not recognized and results in that the torrent gets downloaded again.

This makes it tedious to organize torrent files. People probably don't even do it because its to time consuming.

Selected solution (#1): Auto-generated solution of idea #12984
Written by nitrofurano the 9 Sep 08 at 14:38.
Ubuntu Brainstorm was updated in January 2009. Since the idea #12984 was submitted before this update, its rationale and solution are not separated. Please vote accordingly, and if you have the necessary rights, please separate the rationale from the solution. Thanks!
