Transmission is the default bittorrent client for Ubuntu. There is a little known feature that allows you to download a blocklist stopping you from connection to IP addresses of known organizations that would monitor your bittorrent activity. Many users don't know about this feature. When first starting transmission, they should be asked if they want to use it or not. The download process takes a little time, but in my opinion, (And according to studies of bittorrent monitoring) it is worth it.
It would also be nice if we could see a 0 to 100 percent complete bar while downloading the blocklist.
Please don't comment saying that the only people who would benefit from this are pirates. Privacy is always a major concern, and I would rather not have corporations monitoring me, regardless of what I am downloading. As the makers of Ubuntu, Canonical should support privacy.
Before stopping to seed my torrents, I usually check the number of seeders.
Currently, the user must open Detail dialog > Peers Tab.
What about adding this information on main panel along to ratio ?
The progress bars in GTK+ version of Transmission are now all the same colour whether a torrent is downloading or seeding. When you have a lot of active torrents this makes it hard to tell them apart.
It wasn't always like this. I believe older versions of Transmission used non-GTK+ progress bars but the developer says he got "complaints that Transmission doesn't integrate properly with the rest of the desktop" and so changed them to GTK+ progress bars that match the system theme but don't support multiple colours ( http://forum.transmissionbt.com/viewtopic.php?p=22144#p22144 ).
I understand his frustration but I think the usability advantage of colour-coding far outweighs the aesthetic problem of it not perfectly matching the system theme.
Transmission should support bandwidth throttling as it helps manage multiple applications that are bandwidth hungry. Also it would be nice if transmission starts supporting priorities where I can specify a priority level for each torrent and it schedules torrents based on the priority. This will save us from manually scheduling (pausing+start). One benefit will be that transmission might pick up a torrent of lower priority if all high ones are unavailable and hence something or the other is downloaded.
It would be very helpful to, well... myself and I'm sure other people if Transmission would set emblems on folders or files based on what they're doing. It could set one emblem when the download starts and one when it's completed so you know when it's safe to relocate the folder or file without having to go back and forth from Transmission.
The most useful thing about this is it doesn't depend on Transmission to be running to keep you informed on the status of the file, you wouldn't have to open transmission to see if that file you just started downloading and forgot about was done or not.

New
Currently there is bittorent client(Transmission) by default in hardy ...
but it would be also good to include a download manager with it.The following features should be included
*it should be included with Transmission gui itself,no need for another program. It gives a feeling for the user that the program is used for downloading purposes.
*Download file in parts. This is used by download accelerators.I know that D4x is there. But its too flashy with many icons and the UI looks really bad.It needs to be standardized like Transmission .And I have experienced lot of problems(confusion) with it.
*Integeration with firefox using some plugin (this should be by default). So a popup comes up asking whether it should be downloaded by the download manager or firefox itself
*Settings for Automatic hang up and shutdown after downloads are finished.some thing like a check box.(make it simple).

Implemented
Currently (Transmission 1.34), in order to pause or resume every download one has at a moment, it is necessary to select each one of them from the download list and then hit the "pause" or the "resume" button.
