The idea is quite simple: please support the same emoticons in pidgin, kopete and icq.
As emoticons are, in the majority of cases, some combinations of letters, brakets and numbers which wouldn't be written with any other meaning I don't think this would cause any problem.
I suggest the following icons to be supported by both, pidgin and kopete:
How the smilie should look like :: pidgin :: kopete
:[ :: its a bat in kopete but a frown looking smilie in pidgin ... perhaps kopete should change its bat?
smiling :: =-) :: :-)
beer :: *DRINK* :: (B)
kissing :: :- :: (K)
thumbs up :: *THUMBS UP* :: (Y)
happy but confused :: %) :: (no emoticon) -- %-) should be the same
*STOP*
rose :: @->-- :: (W)
Wide eyed :: 8-) :: (H)
Get supported by kopete:
hearing music :: [:-) :: (no emoticon)
laughing :: *JOKINGLY* :: (no emoticon)
tired smilie :: *TIRED* :: (no emoticon)
devil :: ]:-> :: (no emoticon)
in love :: *IN LOVE* :: (no emoticon)
cheering :: *YAHOO* :: (no emoticon)
smilie getting kissed by another smilie :: *KISSED* :: (no emoticon)
Get supported by pidgin (not that important, but it would be nice):
No :: (no emoticon) :: (N)
Telephone :: (no emoticon) :: (T)
coffee :: (no emoticon) :: (C)
clock :: (no emoticon) :: (O)
present :: (no emoticon) :: (G)
note :: (no emoticon) :: (8)
For my girlfriend I'd be happy having these emoticons:
a little heart :: <3
smilie giving a kiss :: :-*
With this idea it wouldn't be that neccessary to implement

Here are some other "Emoticon-Users" who could use those:
