Bring back effectv to work with video loopback instead of empathy cheese efects.
Written by Dark Sneasel FP the 23 Dec 11 at 01:27. Global category: Multimedia. New
one of the problems of chease, was that you can apply effects, but the onlything you could with then was record as an ogv file.

now you can use those effects on a webcam chat if you use empathy and empathy suport webcam on that protocol , but this only works for empathy.

effectv on the other hand, was a software with more cool effects that 'export' the generated image as virtual webcams (with some help of video loopback) so you can apply effects and use in any program with webcam support.

but 2 problems happens:

1) with the new video 4 linux, this program stop works, but i still was able to launch it until ubuntu 11.04 with the following comand:
LD_PRELOAD=/usr/lib/libv4l/v4l1compat.so effectv

2)the new video loopback is incompatible with the old one, so i can't export this program output as an webcam.

Solution #1: make cheese effects compatible with video loopback devices
Written by Dark Sneasel FP the 23 Dec 11 at 01:27.
Instead join efforts to embed cheese effects with empathy, make those effects 'exportable' to 'video loopback 2' devices (if at least one device isn't set, those devices will be auto generated)

IPTV-Ubuntu: The platform for watch TV on the Web
Written by oagostinho the 28 Aug 08 at 19:36. Global category: Multimedia. New
Hi,

I'm living in Lisbon/Portugal, recently I've subscribed my first IPTV services...and you know what? The OS that it's running on the Box..it's Windows...!!!

Good for them....!!!

Anyway, works pretty well...!!,Well, after some nuances....You can imagine. But,nowdays, I'm very happy with the functionalities that set-box have, very impressive!!! Congratulations for PT!!!.

In that way, like a power user, i want more...much more!!!. Maybe, i would like to watch my favorite program on my favorite browser at mom's house, for example! At this moment, i can programmed to record my favorite show, and see it, when i arrived home.

But,even, I want to have more power on my box. Maybe, If i have the possibilities, i can create some add-on on my setbox, to implement some functionalities that i would like to have but don't have it at the moment. You can think Firefox and their super world of Added-On, just for say something.

And, continuing thinking, why not, Ubuntu couldn't be that open universally IPTV Plataform, that i would like to have, and share with rest of the world??? Of course, respect with the copyright, and all these stuff.

Thanks!
