Create and include a 'Speakers and sound' graphical configuration tool that would be able to configure the system soundcards and speaker settings (from simple stereo to surround 5.1, 7.1)

Solution #2: Add audio settings button to every window's top panel
Written by Kiwii the 8 Jul 11 at 17:13.
It would be handy if there were a volume control and device selection button right on an audio enabled application's top panel. So the users knows exactly where to control the volume of wich application. It could be in the top-right corner of each app that is playing or listening to sound in unity.

equalizer for rhythmbox
Written by roemer2201 the 12 Mar 08 at 06:41. Global category: Multimedia. Not an idea
There should be an equalizer in ryhthmbox music player so that everyone can set the sound-output for his personal needs.

Maybe create some default-settings like rock, metal, jazz, classic ...

totem should support tv,equalizer.
Written by dragoninsane the 22 Mar 08 at 13:56. Related project: Totem Movie Player. Not an idea
totem should be able to play tv from analog card and
needs to include and equalizer with some presets.also
totem should be perform basic edit video functions
like cut clip from video or join clips/save clips.this is very
basic functionality adds edge to totem.if it can do it
i use ancient software in xp called vcdcutter, which does
it perfectly.equalizer for playing audio files and
videos makes them look good.

Ultimate Media Player - Library, Equalizer, Visualizations, and Device support
Written by CalcProgrammer1 the 16 Apr 08 at 00:15. Global category: Multimedia. New
I'd really like to see a media player (for music and video) that was all one program and had all sorts of features.

I hate flipping from VLC's awesome equalizer and sound functions to XMMS for cool visualizations and plugins to Rhythmbox for device support to ......for other stuff. I wish I could just fire up one mega program (kind of like Windows has with Windows Media Player 11) and watch videos, look through an extensive collection of music, listen to songs with 2-pass equalizer effects, use visualizations, synchronize my mp3 player...all in one program.

Solution #1: Ultimate Media Player
Written by CalcProgrammer1 the 16 Apr 08 at 00:15.
- VLC's video and audio decoding engine
VLC's engine supports almost every format imaginable for video and audio. VLC plays DVD's and CD's, streams from the Internet or LAN, and does tons of other stuff. VLC also has a custom 10 band equalizer with a cool 2-pass function that can put out great deep bass and clear high notes through relatively cheap headphones.

-XMMS/Totem's Visualization engine
The default visualization engine is nice because you can install more visualization plugins (like 3d ones or the special "RockLight" plugin for XMMS that flashes ThinkPad light to music). More visualizations would be written if people had a one-stop system for their media.

-Rhythmbox/Amarok/Songbird's library or custom one
I really like the library in Windows Media Player 11. It automatically detects your CD's and gets album cover pics, and then uses them as icons for each album. I think that'd be a good way to categorize items in a Linux media program too.

-iPod/PDA/USB drive/mp3 player sync
If you have a ton of music stored in an easy access place, you should be able to put it on your portable device. I know this feature already exists in Rhythmbox (at least for iPods). Also, playing music straight off of devices would be nice. CD burning would be an added plus, but it's kind of unnecessary.

I don't know how reasonable this is, if those programs could easily be combined or not (some program engines are pretty tightly built and adding things may not be as simple as it sounds), but I think a lot of people would be drawn to a unified media system, especially one that pulls all the best features of Linux media players into one.

AC97 half-hardware equalizer support
Written by AzazelMazikin the 1 Mar 08 at 14:17. Global category: Multimedia. New
It should be done. In Windows after installing Sound Manager I got systray icon that configures AC97. There is equalizer too. I dont know is it hardware or just some FFT in driver, but it works purely like hardware one, in all applications, on all devices including CD and MIDI and does not consume processor at all
