If you want to open a file with an alternative app other than the default you need to right-click and choose the app.
For a lot of file types there is a "second default" app like the graphics software aside the usual picture viewer, e.g. GIMP/Gthumb or Avidemux/VLC for video files.
There should be an easy/quick way to open a file with the alternative app!

consider UserA publishes a FileA on u1 via UrlA
UserA send UrlA to UserB
UserB needs a browser to download FileA and the file won't be imported to u1 app and it's annoying to look for downloaded file on mobiles/tablets.
Since u1 app will manage all my cloud files and list them in an elegant way, why can't I fool the app to download this file and to consider it as if it was mine since UserA had already publish it.
Chromebooks are becoming very popular as of late 2012. Running Ubuntu on these, however, is pretty cumbersome. The user needs to:
- Put the Chromebook into developer mode first (which deletes your Chromebook data, and involves a series of intimidating reboots)
- Run a custom script (currenctly, chrUbuntu is the standard)
The user is then left off with a 'dual boot' machine where:
- You need to use cgpt instead of grub for OS selection (the user needs to type commands like "cgpt add -i 6 -P 5 -S 1 /dev/sda" in order to select what to boot)
- OS verification makes it very slow to boot Ubuntu, unless the user escapes the secure boot 25-seconds warning with a especial keyboard sequence.
Here are some references for Ubuntu on the Acer C7, as a recent example:
Whilst it is one of the strengths of ubuntu that you can install it without following a lengthy procedure of multiple prompts, I feel that more options should be provided after installation has begun (at the stage where the twitter feed shows up and the features slideshow has ended, I. E. Once most of the data copying from cd is done ), which would allow the user to set up other vital services.
Once installation is complete the user still has to set up his email (which may be more than 2-3 adresses) and their social networks.

When you click anywhere in a program's window, it gains input focus and moves to the top of the window stack - covering everything behind it. If you accidentally click on a maximised window, you have to traverse through all the open apps on Unity to bring them back to the front.
This is annoying: say you want to type something into the Terminal window when referring to a support webpage; you cannot just type into the Terminal while part of it is overlapped by the web browser window, even if the text input area of the Terminal window is not covered. Also, if you move the scroll bar of the web page, then the web page will gain input focus and cover the Terminal window - which you were about to type in!
Why is there no option to change the behaviour of application windows and input focus?
The option "Always On Top" does not solve this problem, as it prevents you from moving a window above it e.g. when you need to get to an urgent e-mail message; see comments.

I feel that the future of currency will be mostly digital. We are conducting transactions online with various devices more and more, and some people even get their groceries online. I think we need to better complement this method of business.

Unity can search through most recent document, video or even help in suggesting results for shopping by using lenses. Presently, Gnome (as provided in Ubuntu Gnome distribution) can not do this. If this feature is implemented in Ubuntu Gnome it may be helpful in bridging the gap the interface that two Ubuntu distro provide.

I would like to make a suggestion to the Jenkins charm. It would be possible to create a way where we passed a URL by parameter, which contains a script and execute it from there. For example put a script in a repository on Github and pass the URL as a parameter and then the script would run. I know the folder install.d of Jenkins charm, but I would pass the script without having to "modify" the charm.I think it would be better if it was all done with Juju using set, so that the charm will be self contained.
Design a ARM64 device to plug inside "ubuntu phone cases" as phone / phablets / tablets / desktop boxes.
Make it open and invite every brand to make them.
The idea is to split the case with the screen hardware and the inside with the SoC, the SoC embedded as a battery case now is today with a connector to the case.
ARM64 is the goal because this idea is not done in days
Then you will be able to upgrade your device SoC and even sell the old one keeping your "monitor / battery / conectors: case" as you can upgrade your desktop computer inside your case.
But also you will be able to replace your terminal by parts if they broke and plug your SoC at different cases as a tablet or a desktop box or choose the size of your dayly phone for different uses or even have two phone cases instead of changing batterys.
