I cannot find software for Ubuntu for analyzing the BPM of a music file
Written by deusdiabolus the 20 Oct 10 at 22:24. New
As a DJ, I frequently find BPM information of a track to be important for mixing and beatmatching. Most current programs will take advantage of having this information prewritten in the ID3 tag of a file, but there don't seem to be any programs specifically for Ubuntu that allow you to do this.

Solution #1: Software that analyzes the BPM of a music file and writes it to the tag
Written by deusdiabolus the 20 Oct 10 at 22:24.
I would like to have a piece of software like Mixmeister's BPM Analyzer that analyzes a music file, calculates its BPM and then writes it to the info tag of the file - MP3, OGG, FLAC, etc. It would also be nice if the software allowed you to halve or double calculated BPMs (which is useful for correcting calculated BPMs for drum & bass).

Improve crash data collection from Windows users of Mixxx
Written by ironstorm the 22 Mar 09 at 16:59. New
When Windows Mixxx users crash, it is difficult to determine what caused the crash. This idea is to brainstorm ways to collect better crash info from users.

Solution #1: Include a copy of GDB with snapshot builds
Written by ironstorm the 22 Mar 09 at 16:59.
One way to help solve this issue might be to include a copy of gdb.exe in snapshot builds, along with an icon to launch Mixxx via gdb.

Then when a user can reproduce a crash with Mixxx, they can launch Mixxx via the debugger shortcut and collect a backtrace to post to LP's tracker.

Dj software typically cannot run itsself
Written by gordonaustin the 17 Jan 11 at 04:17. New
Typically a dj has to take requests and locate items in his library or get them in order to play them, but it would be faster if the listener located the song himself.

Solution #1: A dj server that allows listeners to upload songs to be played
Written by gordonaustin the 17 Jan 11 at 04:17.
This would be like an automated dj that would have a web interface for listeners to upload a song to be played to a play que. It should let users choose from songs already stored on the server as well. It probably would need to delete the uploaded songs after playing in order to comply with copyright laws.
