Korganizer: sort by last change
Written by dotancohen the 12 Nov 08 at 14:06. New
In Kaddressbook there should be an option to sort contacts by latest changes. There are several instances in which this would be useful:
1) A new contact is added, and then some time later the user does not remember the contact's name or other details.
2) The user makes an error entering data, and the contact is not where it is expected to be in the list.
3) Someone else puts her cute little hands on the keyboard and pushes buttons, imitating daddy. Now daddy has to fix the damage.
4) The user must export latest changes via vcard. He can sort by latest change, select the latest contacts, and only export those.

I personally have been in all four of these situations, and I am certain that there are other use-cases where this feature would be helpful.

Use the Live CD to install Kubuntu environment on Ubuntu (and vice versa)
Written by w the 9 Nov 08 at 19:47. New
I would like to request a feature that is currently not supported on Kubuntu Live CDs and its variants.

Currently, the live CDs that are sent by ShipIt don't allow the user to install Kubuntu on top of a current Ubuntu system (the Alternate Install CD must be downloaded). I am guessing this is the same in reverse.

However, there are many people who are still on dial-up connections. It would be a great feature if the shipped CDs could install their environments on top of existing ones as well, so there is no need to download the whole kubuntu-desktop package from Synaptic, or the Alternate Install CD (696MB!).

Thank you in advance.
___________________________________________

Just to clarify, I'm an Ubuntu user who usually gets the distro through ShipIt, and installing through the LiveCD. I would like to be able to get the Kubuntu LiveCD through the mail as well, and install it as well on top of the existing Ubuntu system (so I can choose between environments when I log in (under 'sessions')). If this was possible, I would not have to download the Alternate CD for this purpose. Thanks.

Adept Installer (KDE 4) needs to show/use application ratings
Written by 1cewolf the 27 Sep 08 at 17:58. New
The "Add/Remove" program in Ubuntu shows the popularity ratings of different applications by a series of stars. Why doesn't the Adept installer have this functionality in its "browse" tab?

The star ratings are very helpful when you want to choose an application but aren't sure what to get. In the Ubuntu Add/Remove program, being able programs by their star order is one of my favorite features.

Better support for FTTH (fiber connection)
Written by Primož Papič the 29 Oct 08 at 22:47. New
IDEA:
As I write this I have no Linux on my computer, this is because I no Linux distro recognise my FTTH (fiber optics) internet connection.
It's some weird bug or something similar.
Maybe you could get the BSD network support.
It works good for me, I have installed PC_BSD to check if it works there.

You can learn more about my strange problems with network connection in comments...

Improve folder view
Written by Primož Papič the 27 Oct 08 at 10:05. New
This idea was posted by someone else on KDE-look but idea was discredited with wrong reasons.
---------------------------------
Folder view is one of most useful widget in KDE4 I use it to quickly access my documents which are in folders (example: Documents/text; pictures;..) But when you click on folder it opens a Dolphin instead that it would open the folder in folder view.
This has been done in quick access so there shouldn't be that hard to do it for folder view also.

KDEGames in Kubuntu
Written by usr the 27 Oct 08 at 13:56. New
Ubuntu has got GNOMEGames (and another games) installed by default, but Kubuntu doesn't have any game installed.

I propose to install by default:
- KDEGames (at least).
- Another quality game: Pokerth (thank you, Adam).

If you know another quality game that you like, write a comment, please.

Uniform clickikng through out the whole system
Written by Primož Papič the 27 Oct 08 at 10:26. New
In KDE4 there is a problem in how many clicks you need to get things "working".
I use Lancelot as default menu which dosen't need any clicks you just hover.
Then I use one click KDE default for my system but in some cases you still need to double click.
It should be an uniform way of clicking that could be changed.
To some extent this is already possible but you don't have no click option.
It would nice to have this as an option.
As I understand this is one of the reasons for Lancelot's popularity.

In Kubuntu, merge Settings, System, and Utilities categories into "Tools"
Written by 1cewolf the 23 Oct 08 at 17:01. New
I just got done trying Mandriva 2009. One of my favorite features, strangely enough, was how Mandriva has a single "Tools" category in the menu rather than Kubuntu's three Settings, System, and Utilities categories. It had a nested "System Tools" category for advanced configuration.

I think Kubuntu should adopt this to make the menu neater. Put the current Utilities directly in the new Tools folder, put System into a nested System Tools category, and put Settings into a nested Advanced Settings category:

Kubuntu to store backup files elsewhere
Written by hermanningjaldsson the 23 Oct 08 at 15:24. New
Kubuntu should stop creating backup files and placing them next to a file (if that file is ever changed).

Keeping backups is very good, but they should be stored in a specific backup folder and not be spread out all over the computer system.

Those extra backup files degrade the readability of everything i have in my folders, each file is now two files and things just dont look as clear when everything is stated twice.

Kubuntu should install kubuntu icons as a separate theme
Written by Nxx the 21 Oct 08 at 04:17. New
Kubuntu-desktop package substitutes incons in a nubmer of default KDE themes (such as KDE Classic) making use of this theme impossible. I select KDE Classic, but what I see? Only kubuntu-stylish icons, not what I expected. Without kubuntu-desktop package KDE Classic theme looks as it should be.

This is under Ubuntu 8.04, KDE 3.5.10 and KDE4

So I ask the kubuntu-desktop package to install Kubuntu-stylish icons in a separate theme, without corrupting already existing themes,
