Idea #8021: Integrate two or more similar applications in one

Written by neyuru the 3 May 08 at 17:55. Category: Brainstorm.
Related to: Nothing/Others. Status: New
Description
For example,

- Network and Network tools in one integrated application. Why should they be separated?
- Assimilate Synaptic and Add/Remove in another one. These two serve the same function, why don't make an easy to use app like Add/Remove with all the capabilities of Synaptic?

There should be a lot more examples of likewise apps, maybe the reader could post them right here.

This is one of the things that everyone is asking on brainstorm... I still dont understand why ubuntu keeps failing on this manner. This idea is a dupe..

I'm sorry if you feel "robed" "retj". Voting down duplicates is not the way to go, you missed the guidelines for posting:

https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Brainstorm

From my opinion this is not a dupe, I am not proposing integrating Synaptic with add/remove programs only, the idea is more general, integrate ALL duplicates in Ubuntu, that was only an example.

I suggest lower yourIgo there and follow the guidelines.

Add/Remove is for applications

Synaptic is for applications and libraries
