+1 because Ubuntu needs better marketing if expected to solve bug #1.

Because it's worked SO well for Microsoft. If anything, it's shown people how scared THEY are of free software.

Nono, don't think of the microsoft examples.

Instead, think how it can be pointed out that Linux is everywhere in their daily life, and they simply don't notice it. ie, when you interact with google, that is powered by linux. And so on.

We don't need to stoop as low as Microsoft.

Microsoft can keep on spreading their FUD and lies.

Vadim P. wrote on the 15 Mar 08 at 03:50
... who says we have to spread lies?

... why not point out the truth?

... and take time to read the comments?

Auzy wrote on the 15 Mar 08 at 05:42
Have you ever been to the get the facts page eldmannen?

http://www.microsoft.com/canada/getthefacts/default.mspx

One example is:
Configuring Web Proxy Servers
In this pair of screencasts we will examine how you can configure and monitor a web proxy server on both Windows Server 2003 and Ubuntu Linux.

I think its kind of fud being spread that is a site full of lies. I personally looked over it just now, and its all comments BY COMPANIES!

We have to stop ignoring what people say. The customer is always right. I think we should scan over it and see where we can improve.

Get the facts is mostly a troll web page.

Responding it would just feed the trolls.

vexorian wrote on the 15 Mar 08 at 16:36
Auzy: I know that it is your job, but avoid giving too much credit to the FUD get the facts campaign, it gives away your cover too easily.

vexorian wrote on the 15 Mar 08 at 16:40
Auzy: You are right, anyways, we should read it. For example I was very happy to find GoDaddy in the list of companies complaining about Linux... If you didn't know GoDaddy was actually BOUGHT by Microsoft. That's the problem, it is very hard to tell if ANY of the statements are any legit, MS got all the capabilities to buy favors, and I was just able to see they don't even bother avoiding to put statements from companies bought by them. Besides, all the site is a troll with disinformation,

There is NOTHING Linux can learn from biased, paid, destructive criticism.

Andrei Zhekov wrote on the 15 Mar 08 at 17:10
why criticism?! Just facts about implemented projects, sold products, big deals with corporate companies etc... No link to hollywar with MS! Just us - the open source...

Vadim P. wrote on the 17 Mar 08 at 13:20
Exactly...
