Hi,

i'd prefer the funds to be spent on issues more related to improving the operating system itself actually. Shipit is a great thing, but it should really be a way for people without internet connection to get Ubuntu and not a free way of getting cool stickers.

shipit should spend it's time mailing CDs to those that can't download Ubuntu, not blow its money on shipping you free crap.

"Tested with Ubuntu" or something would be even better, and vendors/retailers should use those (along with clear guidelines)

Actually, since shipit already sends out stickers, they would SAVE money my making smaller ones. ;-)

ONLY hardware vendor may put these stickers, not end users.

Shipping is a great think and stickers too!
It's a kind of cool to have a nice red CD casually lying on the table at work... You know I'm a techie so usually I don't give more than a damn about things like "self presentation & image" but this one works!

This is GOOD idea!
Like if you sell old laptop at eBay you could put it next to windows sticker! +1

Why is it that I seem to be the only one being

TOTALLY ANNOYED

by al those hardware vendors stickering their merchandise into oblivion? Stickers don't add anything to the value of my notebook, they make it look less smooth, and they are very hard to get rid of. I bought it because I *already knew* what's in it (or I wouldn't have bought it at all). What's wrong with a leaflet telling me whether it's Vista ready, has a TruBrite display or what else?

During the last 10 years I bought cameras, desktop computers, printers and notebooks and it seems like each year the amount of stickers per product seems to double (Moore's law?) Before that, stickers were seen less frequent and they didn't have a metal(!) layer that breaks your nails.

No more stickers. Ever. I don't need them! Nobody does.

But nevertheless +1 because you at least propose to get rid of that metal coated Windows sticker.

Put them in the merchandise section, instead?
...in fact, they're already there!
Shipit should be for people who need a CD shipped, period.

I really don't understand all the vitriol toward this idea. I think it's great. There are already large stickers being shipped along with the Shipit CDs, so why not just replace them with the smaller ones, or offer 2 of each instead of 4 of the big ones.

If you don't like stickers, throw them out, or better yet give them to a buddy. Mine go to my little brother. What harm could something like this possibly do?

I think "Operated by Ubuntu" is the better way of saying it.

Ubuntu is an Operating System not a power plant.

...powered by electricity

I love the idea. I so badly want to remove my half worn away Windows sticker and put a nice Ubuntu sticker next to my Intel Inside sticker (Intel eats Windows =]). Or I could keep the Windows sticker and put Ubuntu next to it (Intel and Ubuntu share the feast of eating Windows.... double =]). Intel stickers hold up nicely... figure out what they do, and we'll have a good working sticker. This also somewhat classifies into Ubuntu-Marketing also.
