Idea #200: Umask and Permissions in Nautilus

Written by pi314 the 28 Feb 08 at 20:23. Category: System. Related project: Nothing/Others. Status: New
Rationale
When you create files with Nautilus, it doesn´t use the permissions set by umask. Thus, keeping the desired permissions gets very difficult.
If Nautilus used umask permissions when creating files, everything could be better.

Hello! Look at this http://ubuntuforums.org/archive/index.php/t-40617.html

"...For gnome to tale into account settings you must create in your home directory a file called ".gnomerc" and put the umask command in it.
Of course you can also use any other shell command.
Nautilus, etc... will now use the new value (after re-login of course)

Hope it helps" - pmartino September 28th, 2007, 01:30 PM
