Description
Integrate Sospend2/TuxOnIce into Ubuntu.
TuxOnIce, how it is called nowadays, does a far better job in suspending and resuming to disk and ram. You can compress your hibernation images, can hibernate to file, cancel suspend, ...
WE WANT IT!
Give Nigel Cunningham the support to get it into Linus'es kernel tree or at least include it into Ubuntu as an option. Help to soften the rough edges it might have preventing it form getting into the mainline kernel.
Mark, push some funds in that direction, we need working suspend/resume in Ubuntu.

More useful will be fixing the ACPI for some chipsets so that they can do S3 suspend etc natively.

My 2 cents for this idea.
I have TuxOnICe (aka Suspend2) in my own kernel from 2 years and now I'm tired of kernel-patching/compiling/installing for each new kernel version.
Multiply it for 3 laptops (3 times kernel-patching / compiling / installing) it became a really boring task.
