Idea #12291: Work With ISPs To Provide Internet Connectivity For Linux Users.

Written by aikiwolfie the 18 Aug 08 at 10:03. Related project: ubuntu.com. Status: New
Rationale
Ubuntu Netbook Remix has been doing the rounds in the press for a while now. But the fact of the matter is a netbook is useless if you can't get on-line.

A common complaint of Linux users is they aren't supported by ISPs. Often getting things setup and working is a night mare process of manual configuration.

In the Windows world it's normally a simpler case of running a little install program and it sets everything up for you. We need ISPs to start doing this for Linux users.

Consumer Linux won't fly if you can't get on-line quickly and easily.

Do you mean start supporting Linux distros? The only problem I can foresee is when a user calls up with foo distro, but the ISP only supports the bar distro. The ISPs obviously cannot support all distros, but starting with Ubuntu would be a good start.
