Pressure Skype To Update, Webcam Support & SMS

We Demand:

It's time the weight of the Ubuntu population put it's foot down on the terrible support, and lack of updates provided by eBay's Skype.

Developers: Please attempt to contact Skype & offer your support in helping with the release of further updates. If they would provide us with a module we could build on, by providing us with a way of integrating with the program beyond the API, this would help us develop on our own.

Users: Please post your request for additional support on the skype forums:

Webcam support and QQ protocol in the same instant messenger
Written by jens the 4 Aug 08 at 16:41. Related project: Kopete. New
We have quite a lot of possibilities to get our webcams to work (like cheese, VLC, kopete and more). Also, there are quite a lot of instant messengers out there, like aMSN, pidgin, eva. They all support one or more different protocols, only a few of them support QQ, the most popular IM protocol in China (for example eva, pidgin and the new QQ messenger for Linux by Tencent, the inventor of the protocol). Some of them don't have webcam support (for example eva, pidgin and the new QQ messenger for Linux), others do (like kopete ...).
However, I could not find a single working solution to have a webcam chat using QQ protocol. So either use another messenger (and be unable to contact your QQ buddies) or talk to your friends (and be unable to see them). OK, QQ is not very popular outside China, but even if not all of the 1.3 billion Chinese use webcams, I think there are still quite a lot of people interested in this feature.

Better Windows Compatibillity.
Written by Marky the 12 Nov 08 at 00:34. Global category: Internet & Networking. New
I would like to have better compatibillity for windows programs on Ubuntu.

This because the lovely Windows Live Messenger doesnt work under Ubuntu.

I would like to have it because of the layout and the multiple functions u have on windows live messenger.

AMSN or any other program doesnt have it.

like, Webcam and microphone function for Video conversations.

This is realy handy for calling friends and also for "in office free call"

Much people use it on work and use it on the unstable M$ versions.

We just need to take over the M$ tasks and get the world on Linux 8-)

it just to make the world stabler...

like WLM on Ubuntu or develope a M$N client that have the funktions in WLM.

Greetings,
Mark
