Description
Many users want to have Computer, Network servers, Home folder and Trash icons on the desktop, but there is no easy way to put them on the desktop for a novice.

Agree.

I think many newcomers (who come from a Windows background) would appreciate this. It would help them to feel more at home.

Hm. The most logical thing for me to achieve this was to drag the 'Trash' icon on the left in the file browser on the desktop. But it's not draggable! So, agreed.

Ubuntu Tweak does this plus a whole lot of other features. I would like to see Ubuntu Tweak included as a default app.

GNOME should have properties windows, which would make possible to toggle desktop icons.

Just install ubuntu tweak for the features. it would be to bulky to do it in the properties windows for everything.

I think it should be in gnome-display-properties, in a separate tab.

I think this icons must be on desktop by default.
