Idea #9912: More info in Natilus when overwriting a file

Written by Madsrh the 15 Jun 08 at 19:58. Category: Accessibility. Related project: Nothing/Others. Status: New
Rationale
When you copy a file to a folder, where another file with the same exists, you receive the message "A file with the name... already exist..." and you have various options.

What really is missing here is some info about the files. Just date and size would be enough. Then it would be easier to know witch file was the one you want to keep.

Also, a lot of people want the ability to rename either file.

I totally agree. I think this is a basic feature for a file manager.

If someone is interested in this feature, they could perhaps support idea 8993, too. Currently Nautilus destroys the modification date and time of a file when copying it. Please vote for bugfixing this.
