It would be nice if new icons that appear on the desktop would have a nice animated glowing affect for a few moments.

There are some complications, like when does the glow go away and stuff, but overall this is something we should definitely look into.

I would offer that the duration of the glow be customizable. Some of us don't check our desktops often, or get distracted, and it would be nice to be able to flip to it, and see 'so-far-untouched' items -- similar to (I hate to use Windows as an example!) new programs installed on Windows, in the start menu.

You could deactivate the glow by interacting with the file -- clicking on it, opening it, etc?
