Description
It would be cool if brainstorm could be turned into a kind of social network, like in last.fm one could have a neighbourhood (based on similar promoted / demoted ideas) create user groups and have a list of friends...
This would make ideas that you agree with more visible to you....
what do you think?

If I had my way, we would not even see each others names...
We shouldn't be creating small groups of people, or we run into the same situation as Digg, where groups of people form and vote all of each other straight up

I don't see the problem in that, if they all agree to that idea... this would make ideas that you agree with more visible to you....

Yeah, but the problem happens where groups of people form, they all start voting the same, regardless of whether or not they should or not.
All ideas should have an equal amount of visibility to everyone, regardless of who.
Theres already been good evidence that ideas aren't being voted for equally (ie, ideas going in totally different directions with votes, despite being the same).
Just because someone is a new contributor and isn't part of one of these exclusive groups, doesn't mean that they should be treated any less importantly.
Brainstorm has already become less fair by showing user stats which gives heavy posters ideas presidence (because users click the name and vote for all of their ideas), this would be the final nail in the coffin. If this happens, you aren't making brainstorm more open, but you are making it a closed/exclusive community, and I don't think I want to be a part of that.
