Related to: Nothing/Others. Status: New
Description
sounds a very generic but software in repository needs to
be more informative based on rating system,by number of downloads also all packages need to be up to date.Linux mint
opensuse,The linspire CNR does this.already we have some information in update manager but synaptic too needs to
inform more.also use of some color system red, green, blue etc
will be the more attractive look to synaptic.some dialogs should be minimized.

Their is already a star rating system for software under the Add/Remove program, why do we need the same thing for Synaptic-package-manager ? -1...

I agree with this idea. I personally thinks that we should have just one package management application - Synaptic.

I really don't see big benefit in Add/Remove application. Yes, of course Synaptic needs big attentions and improvements, but anyway I would like see some rating system there. We should concentrate on tutoring users and improvim Synaptic.

Isn't the star rating system based on downloads? I'm not sure popularity by download is a great method of evaluating the quality of a piece of software. If we applied popularity as a grading scheme, then Windows would most definitely win out over any OSS project.

I think a quality grading scheme might better suit the database.
