It could be simply added as a new feature in the sound prefereces menu. It would be useful and more professional.

Okay, but a short one.

I understand that it could be useful, but I feel the need to question the assertion "more professional".

The way I see (hear?) it, this is just more eye (ear) candy. :-\

Nevertheless; Vote = +1

good idea ... but there is some inconsistency in the "Safe to remove dialog" ...it doesnt come up always... that should be first resolved and this can be added...

this makes ubuntu more modern.. because it increases user interactivity.. and hence makes it more professional

Hardy already plays the login music when you connect a USB VOIP phone or headset, but yeah, it'd be a nice idea to have a general audio cue for connect and disconnect like the one Windows uses.

Nothing but annoying to yourself, and those around you, if you ask me. I wouldn't do it.
