Related to: Nothing/Others. Status: New
Description
File-roller has 46 critical bugs open, is (I think) orphan and has an inconsistent interface (contexual menu view and open with). It could be replaced by fuse or by a nautilus script.
Remove file-roller is secure, because is only a front-end to tar, unrar, etc...

I mailed the developer and he said the project is not dead. However it looks really dead to me..

When a FOSS project is orphan/dead it is everyone's fault.

A better suggestion would have been "get people to work on file-roller"

Either way, it works, the only problem so far I had with it was 7z compression on folders that have spaces. I like how it works by just installing other apps, I think working on a nautilus script would take more resources than fixing the bugs in this. Hmnn, I always wanted the 7z issue, perhaps when I get more time I'll be able to get the source and try a patch.
