Description
I created the mockup of Ubuntu using some elements of other mockups. I think the change of Ubuntu may not be radical. Because it draws its visual identity.

He is easily identified, and its windows are differentiated from all distributions in the first look, as we see in the TV series, Criminal Minds

Can you see the mockup this link below.

Following are some suggestions from users, following the second amendment in the mockup.

you can't satisfy all with a theme.

Mockup opinion: The taskbar is too dar, the logo glows too much, the icons are vistaish.

Oh, and I might go to strike if there's no abstract ibex in the wallpaper.

That looks very nice. "shiney"ish!

Less brown, more orange: YES
Big Logo in the middle: NO... It makes it look like a cheap-ass commercial product. The look needs to be clean yet recognizable.

Maybe this is something for you:

Panels are too dark, put more orange.

Monochrome icons on systray can cause confusion.

very nice, could use some tweaking.
it would be cool if II's theme was more modern looking like this though

Get rid of the brown. Ubuntu has been called fecal brown and its not off, in my opinion.

Looks pretty, though perhaps a bit too much in the yellow/orange department (though better yellow/orange than brown). Also GNOME cops enough flak for being screen-estate greedy to need panels that fat in your mockup, and finally, put some more general colour in! Mono icons and view-through-yellow-tinted-glasses look will grind after awhile. As much as I dislike Vista and everyone copying it, the icons do have a clear visual understanding about them.

Big-ass logo can be reduced to a smaller, less-prominant corner logo like you see most other lappy manufacturers do (though even Microsoft have learnt not to put the logo on their wallpapers now).

Like Borat would say...
Nice, I like, how much?

Looks really good and it doesn`t take out the usual brown from Ubuntu.

This adolescent and rude nonsense argument has been posted so many times in relation to Ubuntu's brown theme that it is sickening now, mahogany is also brown, chocolate is brown, lots of nice things are brown, on the other hand there are some bad things associated with other colours too, so cut the foolishness and contribute something meaningful, please this kind of comment is neither cute funny or smart. That said I think the trash icon needs a little makeover, a look such as the one in Ubuntu-studio only with Ubuntu colour would be nice.

But that being simba-01, this has only been posted 1 other time:

----------SNIP---------
Calm, boldness, depth, natural organisms, nature, richness, rusticism, stability, tradition, anachronism, fascism, boorishness, dirt, dullness, filth, heaviness, poverty, roughness, earth (classical element), October, Capricorn, Scorpio (reddish brown, star signs), down-to-earth. Brown can stimulate the appetite, wholesomeness, steadfastness, simplicity, friendliness, and dependability.
-----------------------

Dullness makes an awesome association

I use Kubuntu which is based on blue and it's not that cold that one would imagine and reading Auzys link, blue also screams Ubuntu:
Seas, men, productive(interior) skies, peace, unity, harmony, tranquility, calmness, coolness, confidence, conservatism, water, ice, loyalty, dependability, cleanliness, technology, winter, depression, coldness, idealism, obscenity, tackiness, air, wisdom, royalty, nobility, Earth (planet), Virgo (light blue), Pisces (pale blue) and Aquarius (dark blue) (star sign), strength, steadfastness, light, friendliness, July (sky blue), February (deep blue), peace, truthfulness, love, sadness, aloofness, the Virgin Mary.
In many diverse cultures blue is significant in religious beliefs, believed to keep the bad spirits away.

Also I don't really get what is idea here?
Is this a mock-up that you did and you want it to become the ibex or is this just a mock-up of how ibex will look no matter of what we think.
How much is this is an idea and what is default that will boe done one way or another... ???

Primož Papič wrote on the 19 Jun 08 at 09:03
I checked it again and realised that it's nice and you
deserve +1 for it.

(And you also reminded me that I should try to make a good KDE4.1 mock-up)

All I see is big ugly orange gnome-panels.

I do agree that this bland start-up theme needs a refresher. If only Ubuntu hired a local British design agency for six months, then we'd be rolling.

I actually think the icons are really good, but it "glows" to much and etc...
