I think another competing operating system can mount ISO images without download additional utilities.

It should be as simple as right-clicking on a .iso file and selecting "Mount image".

Shemet, thank you for helping make Ubuntu better with your ideas.

However, several similar ideas have been posted in the past: 194, 1979, 2528, 5206, 7984. I would advise you in the future to search first if someone has already posted your idea before submitting it...

Eldmannen is right. *cough OSX*.

And people use it ALL the time. Saves having to screw around.

In fact, because they do, their whole software distribution system revolves around disk images rather then zips which you need to decompress to use.
