Idea #9557: Make it easier to reconfigure mounted network drives

Written by deadowl the 6 Jun 08 at 05:16. Category: Internet & Networking. Related project: Nothing/Others. Status: New
Rationale
Okay, so I go to places->connect to server
I type in the server, the port, and the folder.

Issue 1: A blank folder field should signify the default folder, or the user's home folder, or the location they would typically be directed to using an FTP client.

I accidentally mistyped the something, the port that's used is changed, I want to change the default folder, or I want to change the name that is used to mount the network drive.

Issue 2: This seems next to impossible unless you know where exactly to look, considering you can only edit it directly from the bookmarks menu in nautilus, and even then, the address that's generated wouldn't be nearly as discernible.

sftp://username@blah.blah.edu/:/rack5f/u/ugrads/username

I should be able to change the service type, server, port, folder, user name, or any other field of a bookmarked network share with the same GUI that was used to generate it. In addition, anything generated from a blank field should be included in editing. The fact that leaving the field blank will result in the default should also be noted by the GUI if that's the case.

I found this bookmarking stuff the most annoying thing in hardy so far. So annoying, that I went back to using console tools like scp and lftp.
So +1 for this one.
