Description
What about adding an additional column in Synaptic Package Manager that will display the Rating of a package (0-5 Stars)?
That way, anybody can see which are the popular games, video/audio players etc. So when someone installs Ubuntu he/she can sort by Rating and view the most popular packages (that he would probably add too).
It could also be separated in Votes and Downloads.

Most often, people are too lazy to rate packages.
Instead, this should be converted, to MOST DOWNLOADED PACKAGES.
Also, a reason why this shouldn't be included in Synaptic is because not everything in there is an app.
Let's say a newbie sees a driver for a graphics card that's not his and he downloads it.
Or he downloads a package not fit for his computer "just because it's popular."
It wouldn't work out. That's why this feature exists alreay in Applications >> Add/Remove...

These votes would bias the applications. So people would always try the same software never getting something new. So if the most voted software is bad, people will conclude nothing is better :-p
That`s the golden Democracy

First of all, I didn't see that Add/Remove Program is different than synaptic. I assumed it without trying it.
Second, I totally agree with bert.
So, this idea can be safely removed. There is no reason for it anymore. ;)
