i don't know how...but can't you make installing applications easy like in windows with the .exe?It's really confusing if you keep it simple you will atract more ussers

.deb packages do install with a doubleclick.

you can use a simple deb package or a visual software manager (ex. adept)...

Hi vladtdr,

I agree with the other comnenters here that installing in Ubuntu is easy.

Installation is easy ;

It is easy to click on a deb file to add it.
It is easy to click on "Applications"=>"Add/Remove" menu.
It it easy to add using Synaptic, or Adept.

It is not so easy to compile a program from source, and install it, or make it available as a deb for everybody else. But it is far more available (and probably easier) than it is for programs in proprietary Operating System.

I also think you have a valid point.
If Ubuntu (or Linux in general) wants to become more universal in its use, then it needs to "understand" the kind of user experience difficulties that you are talking about.
It's not that it is hard, it's just that it is different - and requires a change to be learnt by the user.

So it would be handy to know what it is that you find difficult about adding/installing programs to Ubuntu.
And what can be done to make the "change" easier for you to achieve.

I welcome your comment and ask if you could please elaborate some more ?
