Native support for 3G usb modems & dongles

In the UK and alot of other nations with 3G networks it operators are now relasing USB 3G modems for internet access via their networks, whilst there is some support on the forums it would be great to see this as part of the native release, or as a package that can be installed to support such devices with a simple GUI frontend. Putting support for this in would be great for mobile users as its not always possible to have access to conventional wireless network.

there is kppp and gnome-ppp that are GUIs for the huawei modem. The 2.6.46 kernel supports fully these devices.

A better way would be to include support for them in networkmanager, but I suppose nm 0.7 is capable of that...

I got the huawei to work with kubuntu with very few effort, just using kppp (but it has issues as well, kppp doesn't like NetworkManager...)
You just have to fill in your providers data and it works...

But as i said, better would be including support into NetworkManager.
